Domenico Carlo Cannizzaro

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Domenico “Nico” Cannizzaro, who entered eternal life on September 13, 2025, just a few weeks before his 83rd birthday.

Nico, as most knew him, passed away as he lived -with class, grace, and courage- after a hard fought battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Nico, a true Renaissance man, was born and raised in Florence, Italy, but made his home in Santa Fe for the past 25 years, where he lead a happy life with his beloved wife Pilar and his many friends here.

Nico is survived by his wife Pilar Cannizzaro, and stepdaughter Isabella Macchioni, of Santa Fe; his sister Lina Sicari and nieces Rosa, Stefania and Cristina Sicari, of Pisa and Florence, Italy; sister in law Claudia Medina, and brother in law Jose Medina, of Albuquerque; sister in law Monica Medina and husband Manoj Puri of Los Gatos, CA; and many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends both in Italy and the USA.

A small private family visitation will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Santa Fe, NM, followed by his Cremation Service on Monday, September 22, 2025.
