In Loving Memory of Dolores Madrid

Heaven has gained a beautiful soul.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dolores Madrid, age 97, of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Dolores attended the School of Loretto and often spoke fondly of her years as a Harvey Girl. She was affectionately known throughout the community as "The Cake Lady," spending 42 years creating delicious cakes that became a cherished tradition for generations of families. Her secret frosting recipe was legendary, and many will never forget the sweet aroma of cakes baking that welcomed you long before you reached her front door. You were always greeted with a warm smile, music playing, and the comforting smell of something wonderful in the oven.

Dolores was the true definition of hospitality. She never turned anyone away, always made everyone feel welcome, and had a remarkable gift for making people feel at home. She was truly the "hostess with the mostest," and her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for others will forever be remembered.

Dolores is preceded in death by her husband Demetrio Madrid, parents Isabel & Antonio Dominguez, sisters, Genoveva Noel and Francis Sumpter, and brother Tony Dominguez.

She is survived by her son, Rick Romero and his wife, Kelly; her daughter, Linda Espinosa and son-in-law, Marty; her daughter, Denise Angel; her son, Ronald Madrid and his wife, Jessica; and her son, Joseph Madrid, brother Gilbert Dominguez and sisters May Martinez and Priscilla Montoya

.

She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to carry her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity.

A Rosary followed by a Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe. A reception will follow at The Elks Lodge.

Pallbearers: Sean Espinosa, Aubrey Espinosa, Chris Madrid, Jason Madrid, Joe Madrid Jr., George Madrid, Martin Griego, Dennis Martinez

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Walk to End Alzheimer's Team: First Step Fitness, honoring Dolores's memory and helping support the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that Dolores's legacy lives on in every act of kindness, every family gathering, and every cake shared with those we love. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
