Dennis Bell, 70, of Los Luceros, NM, Remembered for Generosity and Community Spirit

Los Luceros, NM — Dennis Bell, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully at his home on October 8, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 70.

Born on January 7, 1955, in Superior, Nebraska, Dennis lived a life defined by kindness, hard work, and a deep commitment to helping others. He spent much of his professional career as a skilled mechanic, working at Gallegos Scrap Yard and a local shop in Española. Known for his generosity, Dennis often volunteered his time to repair vehicles and assist neighbors in cleaning out yard car lots, embodying the spirit of service that endeared him to many.

Dennis was a devoted husband to his late wife, Rita Romero, with whom he shared 20 wonderful years. He was also a loving father and grandfather, always ready with a listening ear, wise advice, or a playful moment with his cherished grandchildren, Alli and Marc. His ability to make every moment special left a lasting impression on those closest to him.

A passionate fan of bluegrass music, Dennis found joy and comfort in its melodies. Among his proudest accomplishments was the rebuilding of a hot rod, which he lovingly passed down to his grandson, Colliard, as a symbol of his legacy and love.

Dennis is survived by his mother, Dorothy Reeve (Bell); his children: Robert Bell, Illana Spicer (Adam), Simon Gallegos (Nick), and Sam Gallegos (Stella); and his siblings: Glenda Dixon (Mark) of Indiana, Lori Johnson of Pennsylvania, and David Bell (Dana) of Wyoming. He is also survived by his best friends, Gene Ortiz (Joshlyn) and Steve Archuleta (Janet), whose friendships brought him joy and companionship. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert F. Bell, and his wife, Rita.

Dennis Bell will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, mechanical talents, and the deep impact he made on his family and community. His spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he created.
