In Loving Memory of Debre W. Allen
Debre W. Allen, age 70, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026.
Debre was born on November 30, 1955, in Houston, Texas, to Suzanne Toomajian and David Dyke. Throughout her life, she was known for her intelligence, beauty, independence, and unwavering determination. She lived life on her own terms, embracing each day with courage, humor, and a fiercely independent spirit that inspired everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A lifelong learner with a deep appreciation for history and the law, Debre dedicated much of her career to education as a History teacher. She believed that knowledge empowered people and took great pride in helping her students understand the past so they could better shape the future.
While her professional accomplishments were significant, her greatest joy was found in the people she loved. Debre cherished meaningful conversations, found comfort in the companionship of her beloved cat, and had a lifelong passion for collecting antiques. Above all else, she adored her grandchildren. They were the center of her world and brought immeasurable happiness to her life.
Those who knew Debre will remember her remarkable beauty, her quick wit, her unmistakable sense of humor, and the incredible strength and tenacity with which she approached life. She possessed a rare determination to live according to her own convictions, never afraid to chart her own path. Her resilience, honesty, and authenticity left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Debre is lovingly survived by her mother, Suzanne Toomajian; her sons, Walter L. DeShazo and his wife, Kayli, and Henry DeShazo; her cherished grandchildren, David Jacob DeShazo and Marli Faith DeShazo; and her sisters, Renee Hover and Patricia Sanders. She also leaves behind extended family members and many dear friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jacob DeShazo, whose memory she carried with her always.
Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we celebrate a woman who lived boldly, loved deeply, and remained true to herself through every chapter of her life. Her wisdom, laughter, strength, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
The family has entrusted Rivera Funeral Home with her cremation arrangements.
“To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die.”
Debre’s memory will forever be a blessing, and her legacy will continue through the family she loved so completely.
