Debbie Martinez-Gurule

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Debbie Martinez-Gurule on 6-13-2026, after a long illness. 

Debbie retired from the New Mexico Department of Health in 1999 and went on to work at Christus St.  Vincent's Hospital and Sears Jewelry until her illness forced her to step down. 

Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Patsy Lee Gonzales; father, Paul Warren; stepmother, Francis; sister Happi (Cathy) Warren; niece, Celatina Varela; godparents, Clora and Mariano Ortiz, special friends, Mary Jane Roybal, and Paul Roybal; stepfather, Cipriano Gonzales; and stepbrother, Santiago Gonzales, and stepsister, Marie Varela.

She is survived by her beloved son, Toby Martinez, and daughter-in-law, Amanda; brothers, David Warren and Michael Mayo, Ph.D., Niece Alissa Roybal; and the Ortiz and Wood families. 

Debbie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
