David Patrick Garcia, affectionately known as "Pappy," was born on June 16, 1957, in the vibrant city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He brought unparalleled joy and warmth to those around him, creating a legacy that will forever be cherished. Tragically, on October 23, 2025, Pappy passed away unexpectedly in Albuquerque, New Mexico, leaving a profound sense of loss among his loved ones.

A beloved guardian angel to his sister, Irene Ortega-Jaramillo, Pappy's love extended far and wide. He was not only a brother to Joe Jaramillo, his brother-in-law, but also a devoted life partner to Frances Valdez. Their companionship was filled with laughter, music, and shared adventures, embodying the essence of a life well-lived.

Pappy's interests painted a vivid picture of his spirit. He had a passion for music that resonated deeply within him, an unwavering connection to the outdoors, and an extraordinary love for celebrating milestones with family and friends. Whether it was a simple gathering or a grand celebration, Pappy's presence illuminated every occasion, transforming moments into lasting memories.

He was a beloved uncle to his nieces, Melissa Shelton and Nadine Marquez, and to his nephew, Brett Shelton. The joy he brought to their lives is immeasurable, and his influence will forever echo through the stories they share. Pappy's affection extended to his grand-nephew, Joey Polanco, his grand-niece, Felisha Polanco-Clark, and her husband, Chris Clark, as well as his great grandnieces, Abby and Lilly, and grandnephew, Sebastian. Niece Maria Herrera-Wagner, Her husband Jerry and their Children Sheree Garcia, Nicole Garcia, Jerry Wagner Jr, and Jellybean. Each of them carries a piece of Pappy’s heart, forever impacted by his kindness and spirit.

Pappy is preceded in death by his mother, Feliz Ortega-Garcia, father, David Guadalupe Garcia, and sister, Jeanie Herrera. Though their physical presence is missed, their love and memories remain close at heart, woven into the fabric of his family's embrace.
