A Pioneer of the Aquarian Age

Darshan Singh Khalsa was a Kundalini Yoga teacher and practitioner for over fifty years and delivered business innovation consulting and stress management services to meet the requirements of many organizations. He provided management leadership in a fast-paced corporate environment for more than twenty years as one of the first employees of MicroAge, a Fortune 500 computer company.

For two decades he provided business innovation services such as strategic planning, team building and problem solving, project management, business process reengineering, and Internet electronic commerce development for some of the world's largest corporations, Including Carlson Companies, Citibank, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Kodak, MicroAge, Phillips Petroleum, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Southwestern Bell.

Darshan was a certified Kundalini Yoga and meditation teacher under the direction of Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga: Darshan was a master storyboarder mentored by Jim Norman of the Creative, Planning Center of Phoenix, Arizona. He received the Storyboarder of the Year Award in 2001.

Darshan became a Minister of Sikh Dharma in 1974 and served as a member of the Khalsa Council since 1994 as a member of the House representing our communities. He served on the Security team for Summer Solstice beginning in 1972 and for most years through 2005. He served as Chief of Security for Summer Solstice 1996-2005 and for Winter Solstice for much of the same period and considered it the best job he ever had.

Darshan authored several beginner books on Kundalini Yoga and developed corporate yoga courseware comprising two years of sequenced Kundalini Yoga classes to optimize participants' health, nerve stamina, emotional well-being, and expanded consciousness. He wrote his autobiography titled "Life of an Aquarian Pioneer".

During 2014-2018 he served on the Kundalini Research Institute board of directors. Among other career highlights, in the mid-1970s he wrote screenplays for an independent Hollywood producer, and in the mid-1960s worked on the NASA Apollo Project as a computer programmer to help put man on the moon.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Akal Kaur Khalsa, his adult son Sat Khalsa Freedman, daughter-in-law Tammy Freedman, his brother Richard Freedman, niece Suzannah Freedman, nephew Hargobind Singh Khalsa, brother-in-law Sewa Singh Khalsa, sister-in-law Sewa Kaur Khalsa, and many cherished family members and close friends.
