Clotilde (Tillie) Garcia, 88, was called to the Lord on March 12, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 10, 1933 in Logan New Mexico to Antonio and Adelina Vigil. Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Adelina Vigil; in-laws, Casimiro and Elvira Garcia; brother, Tony Vigil; sister-in-law Cecilia Garcia; son-in-law, Richard Villaire.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Casimiro (Casey) Garcia; children, Monica Villaire-Garcia, Edwina Garcia, Franklin Garcia (Coreena), Andrea Carey (Tim); brother, Ruben Vigil (Rita), brothers-in-law; Tony (Tere) Garcia, Carlos Garcia, Bro. Ricardo Garcia, OFM; sisters-in-law; Christella Alley (Tom), Mary Gutierrez (Tedd).
She is also survived by grandchildren: Anthony Martinez, Aarron Martinez, Casey Villaire, Mareesa Villaire, Maya Garcia-Pack, Briannon Carey, Hannah Garcia; and many other friends and relatives.
After graduation from Logan High School, Tillie moved to Santa Fe to work for the State of New Mexico. Throughout her career, Tillie worked for Dr. Ralph Lopez as a dental assistant; operated the family laundromat, and retired from the Salvation Army Thrift Store.
Tillie was a devout Catholic and was an officer with the Catholic Daughters; member of the St. Francis Altar Society and volunteer at Villa Theresa Catholic Clinic.
God and her family were the most important people in her life. She loved to cook, visit with friends and family at area casinos, and travel the state with her husband.
She was a passionate sports fan and was a constant presence at games throughout the city to support family or friends that were playing. She was a proud supporter of St. Michael’s High School athletics and also supported area schools when they were not playing the Horsemen.
A rosary will be held on Friday, March 18 at the Cathedral Basilica of Assisi at 1 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National cemetery at 9:45 a.m. on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the to the St. Michael’s High School Alumni Scholarship fund.
