Claudina M. Salazar (Valdez) 76 of Alcalde, NM passed away on June 19, 2026, peacefully at home with her family surrounding her with love.
She is preceded in death by her parents Juan M. Valdez and Adelia D. Valdez, siblings Richard Valdez, Delano Valdez, and sons Ernest Salazar and Sammy Salazar.
She's survived by her loving husband, Samuel A. Salazar, her daughter Donna, son's Steve and Sev, sisters Lydia Atencio and Mabel Valdez, grandchildren Jolene, Dereck, Ashley, Danny, Andrea, Lenora, Diego, Stevie, Zachary, Kimberly, Samantha, Marcos, and Julian. 13 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends that adored her.
Claudina was a diligent worker and was employed at Nambe' Mill for 28+ years. CR Minerals 12 years. She also worked at Lowe's Hardware Store part-time for 14 years and during the yearly session at the State Legislature for 28 years.
Claudina was a classy and beautiful women. She will be missed by all that had the blessing of passing paths with her. She enjoyed family gatherings and was not shy when it came to singing karaoke. She was known for having sugar laps. All it took was a hug and she took away the hurt. She was always busy in her house, whether it was planting flowers, cleaning the yard or cooking. We will miss her more than words can say. Rest in peace, my wife, our mama, our grandma, and friend.
In honor of Claudina's remarkable life, a Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm Wednesday July 1st, 2026, at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am the following day Thursday July 2nd, at San Juan Bautista Parish in Ohkay Owingeh. Following Mass, Claudina will be laid to rest at La Villita Catholic Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Salazar have entrusted the caring professionals at Rivera Family Funeral Home of Espanola to support them during this time. We offer our heartfelt condolences to all.
