Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Chris Yocom, our beloved son and brother, passed away the day before his forty-third birthday. His life on this earth was cut short, but in God’s mercy, he is now beginning a new eternal life in Heaven. He left behind a loving family - his parents, Michael and Pamela, and his brother, Andrew, sister-in-law, Stacy, and baby niece, Olivia, and lots of uncles, aunts, and cousins. Chris’s life was marked by kindness, generosity, and a steadfast dedication to those he loved.

As a young man, he loved growing up in the Washington DC suburbs and all it had to offer. Chris made close friends and maintained those relationships over the years. He was a Washington Redskins fan until the end.

Twenty years ago, Chris moved to New Mexico, where most of his extended family lives. He settled in Taos, where he had visited and fallen for the mountains, the town, the outdoor activities, lifestyle, and the people. Chris was an avid downhill skier, mountain biker, and fisherman, so Taos fit him perfectly. Over the years, Chris had a number of jobs as an EMT, wildland firefighter, drug rehabilitation staff, and property manager. He lived in several surrounding communities with his beloved dogs.

Chris was a Christian man of God and deeply spiritual in his private life. The Holy Spirit resided in him, and regardless of the emotional and addiction challenges he faced, he was always faithful to his maker, praying constantly. He will long be remembered for his love, his passion, and his faith. Now he joins his many friends and relatives who have passed before him in Heaven. We miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be conducted at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Taos on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with viewing at 10:00 AM, funeral service at 11:00 AM, followed by burial in Sierra Vista Cemetery.
