Charlie Anderson peacefully died at his home from natural causes on October 14, 2026, at the age of 93.

He is preceded in death by Edy Anderson (wife), Richard Wiard (stepson) Leslie Wiard (daughter in-law) and Keri and Amy Wiard (granddaughters).

He is survived by his partner Judy Lockwood, children Chauncey, Gingy , Finlay Anderson, Barb, Tom, Rob and Ted Wiard and their partners.

He also shares his love and pride with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charlie is remembered by so many loved friends and community. He stated his gratitude to the community and considered them family. His commitment to humanistic pediatrics resonates throughout the state and his legacy as a community pediatrician will be felt forever. Charlie and Edy, with their children, arrived in Taos in 1976. With hard work and commitment to the community, they founded Taos Clinic for Children and Youth in which Charlie was known to many as “Doc”. At Taos Clinic for Children and Youth he was able to fulfill his commitment to his passion for serving children and their families as the local pediatrician. In addition to being a factor in mulitple professional organizations, he was consistent in supporting Taos Community Foundation and Golden Willow Retreat, which became important benchmarks within the community. Charlie’s love for being of service, the outdoors, skiing, tennis, golf, family and community allowed him to become a true beacon within the community and state. One of Charlie’s last remarks was, “I am grateful to look back at this age and know it was all worth it.”

A memorial service is being planned for March 2027.
