It is with deep sorrow but firm faith that we share, Caroline “Nina” Irene Arguello, 85, of Santa Fe, was called home to be with the Lord on July 5, 2025. She was born on July 22, 1939, in Ocate, NM, to Juan Albino Duran Sr. and Juanita Lucero. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She retired from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) where she served as a clerk specialist for 24 years. Nina was especially proud of her knowledge of fingerprinting, despite any formal training and often spoke proudly about memorizing all 33 counties in New Mexico.
Nina could always be found dancing at any party and had an incredible sweet tooth, even until the end. When asked how she was doing her response would be, “fine and dandy chewing gum and eating candy.”
Nina was a devout Catholic, praying daily for all her loved ones. She baptized and confirmed multiple family members, taught all her children and grandchildren their prayers. Ensuring that future generations of her family were raised in their faith. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her two sons Jose B. Arguello Jr. “Baldy”, Michael J. Arguello and daughter LouElla Pacheco (Gerard). Grandchildren Michelle Amador (Sean), Rejeana Mascarenas (Matthew), Mario Arguello (Jessie), Anthony Arguello (Juliana), Melissa Amador (Michael), Amanda Duda, Samantha Arguello, Josee Arguello, Andrea Martinez (Jeremy) and Angelica Pacheco. Great grandchildren Celene, Julian, Zavier, Jazlyn, Caleb, Ariel, Braxton, Reagen, Draiden, Ayrabella, Elias, Malachi, Rozalie, Nikolai, Olivia, Charles, Isabella, Lucas and Amelia. Brothers Tim Duran (late Dora) and Steve Duran (late Phyllis) and her sister Cecilia Duran (late Bronson). Brother-in-law Gene Lovato and sister-in-law Gloria Duran. As well as numerous, nieces and nephews.
Nina was preceded in death by both her parents, her siblings Sadie Duran, Elise Lovato, Clorinda Rubin (Ismael), Anselmo Duran, Adelia Fernandez (Jimmy), Juan Albino Duran Jr., her son Gilbert Arguello, granddaughter Monique Amador and grandson Andrew Arguello.
