Carmen Ortega

Carmen Ortega, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on April 24, 2015. Carmen was born April 3, 1924 to Jose & Anita Gonzales from Rio en Medio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Juan Ortega Sr., sons, Leonard & Andres Ortega, and grandson, Javier Ortega. She is survived by her son, Juan Ortega Jr. (Sara), daughters, Susana Tercero (Navor), and Melissa Ortega, 14 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren, brother, Sofio Gonzales (Christina), Gustavo Gonzales. Carmen was a lifelong resident of Tesuque where she was known for her cooking. She will always be remembered for her love of family. She was fortunate to have spent much of her last few years with her family in Oak Harbor, Washington, where she was great grandma Carmen to over 20 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Visitation and Rosary will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 6:30 PM at San Isidro Church, in Tesuque, NM. Funeral will be held on May 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Fe, NM. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Serving as pallbearers will be: her eight grandsons.
