Herrera
Feb 28, 1964 — Jun 17, 2026
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce that Carlos R. Herrera entered into eternal rest with our Lord on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Carlos was a devoted son, loving father, cherished grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought strength, laughter, and love to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Herrera, and nephew, Antonio Herrera. Carlos is survived by his loving mother, Priscilla Herrera; his children, Jolene Valdez and Javier Herrera (Marissa); and his beloved grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob, Jerome, and Jayden, who brought joy and pride to his life. Carlos is also survived by his brother, John Michael, and sisters, Martina and Camille, nieces and nephews, Brittany (Johnny), Everly, Romy, Dominique and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Carlos was born on February 28, 1964, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A lifelong resident of the city he loved. He graduated from Santa Fe High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Army National Guard. Following his military service, Carlos dedicated 30 years of hard work and commitment to the State of New Mexico Department of Transportation before enjoying a well-earned retirement. The greatest joy of Carlos’ life was his family. He treasured every moment spent raising his children, Jolene and Javier, and later found happiness in creating memories with his grandchildren. Whether he was taking drives through Santa Fe in his beloved truck, spending hours working on it, fishing with his grandchildren, at basketball games, or hunting alongside his son, daughter-in-law, dad, and brother, Carlos cherished the simple moments that brought the family together.
Carlos also had a special love for animals and took great pride in caring for his chickens, turkeys, and rabbits. He found peace in the outdoors and fulfillment in the life he built around family, hard work, and the traditions he loved. Carlos will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering dedication to those whom he loved, and the countless memories he created with family and friends. His legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
