Bonnie J. Urias

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Bonnie J. Urias, who departed this life on August 21, 2026. Bonnie was cherished by her husband, family, friends, and all who knew her. Her fierce love for family, generous spirit, loyalty, and courage will be remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Bonnie was born on August 25, 1970, to Raoul and Barbara Torrez. She grew up in Santa Fe, NM and graduated from Santa Fe High in 1988. Bonnie grew up in a big, close family with grandparents, lots of aunts and uncles, and cousins in Santa Fe and Española. Even though there were so many cousins, anyone who didn’t know would have thought they were Bonnie’s sisters and brothers. In high school she played softball and was so happy to have recently come across her letterman jacket and patches. Bonnie worked hard all her life. She worked for many years at Domino’s in Santa Fe, and she was blessed to have been a member of the Rocky Mountain Business Systems family for 22 years. Wherever she worked, the people she worked with became life-long friends.

Bonnie met Gil Urias in 1996 and the rest is history. From that day on they became “Bonnie & Gil” and on August 2, 2003, Bonnie married Gil, who she always said is her soulmate, the love of her life, and her rock. Gil brought his daughters, Maria and Rachel, with him into Bonnie’s life and they became hers without hesitation. She happily became a mom, and eventually a grandma, and she was so proud of them all.

Bonnie was the glue that held everyone she loved together. Bonnie made sure everyone else was taken care of and had a place to go on holidays and special occasions. Every Christmas she made sure there was a wrapped present under the tree for every kid she knew would be there, or she thought might show up to the house, to visit on Christmas day.

Bonnie always showed up when it mattered most, whether it was to take her mom to visit family in Colorado, or to surprise her dad with a new recliner. To get to that birthday party or graduation. To rescue someone on the side of the road with her AAA card, or to visit her Auntie for lunch when she was sick. To cook 40 pounds of potatoes for Thanksgiving, or to burn a million DVDs so people didn’t have to rent movies. To get that extra phone or computer set up for someone else to use. She took care of everyone in any way she could and if someone needed help, she found a way. Bonnie held on to things and when she found a good sale she bought extras, so that she would have them in case anyone needed them.

Bonnie loved football (Go Broncos!), all animals-especially her fur babies, Wynonna, ABBA, jordan almonds, macaroni with hamburger and tomato sauce, piñon, gadgets and electronics, traveling, concerts, musicals, and movies.

We’ll all remember Bonnie for being a funny, loyal, fierce, steadfast, stubborn, determined, strong, big-hearted, welcoming, hard-working, honest, blunt, smart, down-to-earth, no nonsense, t-shirt and jeans, poker night, barbeque on the porch kind of person. We’ll miss hearing her say, “honey!” “hola, chola,” “hey, man”, “atta girl/boy,” “mija!/mijo!,” “stuuupid,” and “woo, woo, woooooooo!”

Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband, Gil; children Maria Ramirez (Reuben) and Rachel Urias; grandchildren Reuben, Ethan, Isaiah, and Vida; her mother, Barbara Torrez; her father, Raoul Torrez; her brother, Raoul Torrez (Mary); her nephews, Zach, Jonah and Dakota, a large extended family and friends, and her precious puppies. A visitation and memorial service will be held at Rivera Family Funerals & Cremations in Santa Fe, NM on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 10:00am, with interment to follow at 1:00pm at Rosario Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews Zach, Jonah, and Dakota; grandsons Reuben and Ethan; and cousin, Rob. Honorary pallbearers will be grandson Isaiah and cousin, Zo.

May Bonnie rest in peace, forever remembered in our hearts.
