Birda R. Vigil

Birda R. Vigil, 92, of Taos passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 25, 2016. She was born in 1924 in Ute Park to Jose Romero and Genoveva Chavez. She was a cook for many years at La Dona Luz, a homemaker, and caregiver for her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eloy F. Vigil, whom she was married to for 58 years, daughter, Geneva Mondragon, grandson John Cordova, sons-in-law, Valentino Cordova and Larkie Trujillo, and brother’s, Joe Ernest Romero, Richard Romero, Pat Romero, and Henry Romero. She is survived by children Ernestina Cordova, Lourdes Ross (Kenneth), Marcia Duran (Jerry) all of Albuquerque, Berlinda Romero (Leroy) of Santa Fe, Raul Vigil (Patricia), Pauline Vigil, Esther Vigil, Gloria Tafoya (James), Steve Vigil (Emlyn) all of Taos. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a large extended family. She will be greatly missed by her family. Rosary was recited on March 30, 2016. Funeral Mass was held on March 31, 2016. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe. with interment followed at the Dolores Cemetery.
