Betty Rivera

Betty Ortiz Rivera, January 1,1928-April 9, 2025.

Our beloved Betty “Honey”, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 9, 2025. She was a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, growing up on Canyon Road and was completely devoted to her family and faith. She was a very loving and giving person and she will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Betty especially loved being involved with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives and was close with all of them, she attended Loretto Academy where she developed many lifelong friendships. She was a spectator at countless St. Michael’s events, loved fishing on the lake and enjoyed traveling in her RV and on cruise ships. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 71 years, Max “Bugs” Rivera; her son, Robert Rivera; her parents, Percy and Valentina Ortiz; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Rosina Ortiz; her grandson, Jeremy Rivera; and her daughter-in-law, Eileen Chavez Rivera.

Betty is survived by her sons, Michael Rivera (Johanna); Philip Rivera (Maye); Steve Rivera (Elaine); and daughter-in-law, Cathy Rivera; her grandchildren, Ken Rivera (Emily); Brian Rivera; April Peterson (Brant); Denise Love (John); Philip Rivera; Jeff Rivera (Jessica); Jennifer Stout (Dave); Valerie Chacon (Manuel); Zack Rivera (Bryann); Afton Cazares (Pancho); Stephanie Crespin; Fallon Crespin (Alberto); special nieces and nephews, Lisa Gutierrez; Peggy Rivera; Marc Ortiz; John Rivera (Susie); Larry Rivera (Tina); and her great grandchildren Jaden, Eric and Sarah Love; Ava and Porter Peterson; Eliana and Max Rivera; Isabela, Juliana, Mateo and Monique Chacon; Penelope and Elijah Rivera; Jeremy and Jalyn Rivera; Harper and Tessa Stout; and Lili, Rosa and Emi Cazares.

Rosary and Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 8, 2025, starting at 10:30 AM at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis de Assisi, 131 Cathedral Place, Santa, NM.
