Bernadette Louise Casados

Bernadette Louise Casados, born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away on July 17, 2026, at the age of 71, surrounded by her beloved husband and all of her children and grandchildren.

Just as Bernadette loved her family wholeheartedly, she held a deep love for Santa Fe and the rich traditions of the community she always called home. She and her beloved husband, Ernie, whom she lovingly called “Babes,” shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they especially enjoyed going for long drives and sharing sweet conversations. Bernadette was also a talented bowler who greatly enjoyed being part of her bowling league.

Above everything else, Bernadette loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she gave everything she had to each and every one of them, every moment of every day. Her love was constant, generous, and unconditional.

Bernadette faced her battle with cancer like a true warrior, with her devoted husband, Ernie, right by her side every step of the way. She fought with incredible courage, strength, and determination, drawing strength from the family she loved so deeply. Even during the most difficult moments, her brave and loving spirit continued to shine.

Bernadette is survived by her beloved husband, Ernest Andrew Casados; her daughter Natalie and grandchildren José, Natalia, Kataleena and her husband, Joshua, Savreena, and Syble Fay; her great-grandson Brody, son of José; her son John Paul and grandchildren Audrina, Serenity, Andrew, Athea, and Genesis; her daughter Shannon and grandchildren Aaron, Jordan, and Dominick; her daughter Jennifer; and her son Isaiah.

She is also survived by her brother Steve and his wife, Kathy; her brother Michael; and her sister Camille and her partner, Chris. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and countless dear friends.

Bernadette was preceded in death by her parents, John and Arabella Wheeler; her brother Rick; her son-in-law, Michael; and many other dearly loved family members and friends.

Our mother was our world. Her strength, kindness, devotion, and unwavering love shaped our lives and made us who we are. Though our hearts are broken by her passing, the love she gave us will remain within our family forever. Bernadette will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by every life she touched.

In honor of Bernadette’s courageous journey, Camille, Chris, and Michael proudly raised funds and participated in the PanCAN PurpleStride walk in April. Donations may be made online at PanCAN.org.
