Arturo H. Sisneros, 81, of El Rito, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2026. Born on July 2, 1945, he graduated from Northern New Mexico Normal School in 1964 and proudly served 21 years in the United States Army, including service in the Vietnam War (1968–1971), Korea (1982), and three tours in Germany. His military career took him to 11 countries and five states before retiring in 1985.

On December 29, 1971, Arturo married the love of his life, Toni Sisneros, sharing 54 years of marriage rooted in faith, family, and service. After retiring, he continued giving back as an educator, a ranger with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and through nearly two decades of volunteer work with Save the Children, supporting the center across from his home.

Arturo was known for his kind heart, his playful humor, and his ability to spark a conversation with anyone, anywhere. He loved cheering on Mesa Vista High School basketball teams, always proud of the kids and the community. He enjoyed regular coffee and breakfast outings, and always had a cup of coffee in hand. He made people feel welcome, lighthearted, and seen. Arturo devoted his life to serving God, his family, his country, and his community. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.

Arturo was preceded in death by his mother, Tonita Sisneros; brothers Rudy, Richard, and Lando Sisneros; mother‑in‑law Juanita Mendoza; sisters‑in‑law Dilia Romero, Beatrice Apodaca, and Rafalita Briggs; and brothers‑in‑law Pete Vigil, Ernesto Apodaca and Duane Briggs; son-in-law Phillip Garcia; nephews Peter Lee Vigil and Jesse Apodaca; and great-grandson Andres Gonzales.

He is survived by his wife, Toni Sisneros; daughters Becky Bowen, Loretta (Melvin) Vasquez, Lorraine Archuleta, and Aurelia “Gloria” Sisneros; stepson Rudy (Elaine) Archuleta; brothers Leroy Salazar and Sammy Sisneros; sister Bernice Vigil; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great‑grandchildren. He shared a special bond with the grandchildren he helped raise: Thomas Bowen, Alyssa Bowen, Bianca (Jamie) Gonzales, Shaynae (Andrew) Hamilton, and Brittney (Jordan) Vasquez.

Although Arturo loved so many people deeply, we all knew Brittney, Mateo, and Jayden were his consentios, each holding a little extra piece of his heart. His love reached far beyond immediate family, touching extended relatives and lifelong friends, including Tracy and Carlos Anaya.

A rosary will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 6:00pm at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church, in El Rito, New Mexico 87530.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 10:00 am at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church.

Burial services will take place on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 2:45 pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501.
