Arturo “Ismael, Ish” Hernandez

Arturo Hernandez, affectionately known to family and friends as “Ismael” or “Ish,” was a loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend. He was deeply cherished by the many people whose lives he touched through school, work, and his profound passion for music.

Ismael poured his heart into his songs, crafting them with raw emotion and stories drawn from his own life. To know Ismael was to know his lighthearted, goofy nature and his endless supply of jokes—his unique and heartwarming way of showing love to those closest to him.

A proud graduate of Capital High School in Santa Fe, Ismael was widely known and beloved in his community. He had a natural gift for making friends and acquaintances wherever he went. Selfless and deeply compassionate, he was always ready to help anyone in need, whether that meant giving the shirt off his back to someone less fortunate or organizing donations for children. Because of his warm heart and large following, his acts of kindness inspired many others to join in his support of those in need.

Ismael’s legacy of music, laughter, and boundless generosity will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to cross his path.

Ismael is survived by his grandparents, Natividad and Corrina Piñon; sisters Anahi Piñon (Joshua), Mya Piñon, and Julianna Piñon; aunt Maria L. Lucero (Carlos); uncles Fabian Piñon (Alisha) and Ommar Piñon (Angela); and niece Iyanna Jaramillo. He is also lovingly remembered by his cousins Carlos (Jordan), Marcos (Dominique), Aliyah (Carlos), Meyah, Ommar Jr., Jayla, and Mequalynn.

A funeral mass will be held for Ismael at 10:00 AM on July 22nd, 2026, at St. Anne's Parish, located at 511 Alicia Street, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501.
