Armando Leroy Chavez, affectionately known as "Mando," passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, surrounded by the loving presence of his family. Born on November 18, 1982, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Armando brought warmth, laughter, and unwavering love to all who had the honor of knowing him.
A graduate of S.E.R Academy in 2002, Armando carved a meaningful career in construction and security. Yet, beyond his professional achievements, it was his family—his proudest accomplishment—that remained at the heart of his life. Mando was a devoted father to his son Jerome and daughter Juliet Chavez, and a cherished figure to the mother of his children, Esperanza Garcia-Roybal. His deep love extended to his mother Elvie Robinson and her husband Brett, his sister Janelle Chavez and her partner Damian Valdez, and his brother Thomas Robinson alongside his wife Jessica. His nurturing spirit was also a blessing to his grandmother Fabiola Sandoval, stepsister Antoinette Griego, and stepmother Vivian Chavez, as well as his beloved nephews and nieces Marcus, Kayden, Miquela, Shane, Rebecca, Arriana, Issac, and Krystiana. Auntie Yolanda Sandoval and cousin Shanda Martinez, along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives, and friends, also held him dearly in their hearts.
Armando’s personality was a radiant blend of kindness and generosity. Known for his jovial spirit, he was the life of every gathering, a jokester whose stories and wisdom captivated all who listened. His home was often filled with the joyful sounds of family gatherings, especially his favorite Sunday morning brunches and birthday celebrations. He treasured these moments deeply—playing, joking, and sharing his heartfelt beliefs with his brother, sister, and beloved nephews and nieces. His love for movies, music, and photography complemented his humor, creating a vibrant tapestry of interests that reflected a truly full and joyful life.
Throughout his courageous battle with cancer, Armando’s open heart and forgiving nature shone brightly. He maintained a positive outlook that inspired everyone around him. Those who knew him best admired not only his strength but the profound love he carried for his family and his faith, which comforted him until the end as he went home to our Lord and Savior.
Armando was preceded in death by his father Orlando Chavez, sister Rebecca Branum, stepbrother Gabriel Jaramillo, grandfather Jose Sandoval, and uncle Cipriano Sandoval. Their memories live on through the stories he loved to tell and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
Today, the echoes of Mando’s laughter, his wise words, and his boundless love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in his life. In celebrating Armando Leroy Chavez, we remember a kindhearted man whose generosity and joy enriched the lives of so many—a loving father, uncle, brother, son, and friend who will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
