Antonio “Tony” Jose Sanchez passed away April 15, 2016 at the age of 92 in Tucson, Arizona. He was a beloved father, grandfather and uncle.
He was born in Alcalde, New Mexico and was a long time resident of Tucson, Arizona. He served in the Army in Japan and worked as a cement mason in New Mexico, Colorado and Tucson until he retired after 36 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, camping, gardening, caring for his grandchildren, and working on his property in New Mexico.
He had a quick wit and sense of humor, and had nicknames for everyone. He was devoted to his children and will be greatly missed.
Tony is survived by his children Rosa “Concha”, Gustavo, Lawrence, Michael, Elizabeth “Lisa” , and eleven grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his father Jose Zebedeo Sanchez, mother Rosa Abel Salazar, sister Florentina , brothers Zacarias and Julian.
A Rosary will be prayed on Friday, April 22, 2016, 7:30PM at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church, Ohkay Owingeh (San Juan Publo), NM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 23, 2016 10 AM at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church followed by burial at the San Antonio Catholic Cemetery AKA the Alcalde Cemetery.
