With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Antonia Alvarez, who departed this world on July 22, 2026. Born on August 31, 1971, in Santa Fe, Antonia’s journey was woven with love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Antonia’s life was defined by her joyful presence and boundless generosity. From a young age, she embraced every moment with spirit and humility. She radiated warmth—her laughter bubbling through every gathering, her feisty humor quickly bringing a smile, and her stories lighting up the room. She was the life of any party, an irreplaceable friend, and a confidante whose wisdom and compassion ran deep.
Her beautiful soul shone through in countless ways: creative hands guided by an artistic heart, talented in calligraphy and art of all kinds, with a love for music that was infectious. Antonia’s special touch extended to her kitchen, where she made the best pot of chile and Spanish rice, flavors that will forever be remembered and missed by those lucky enough to share her table.
Family was Antonia’s greatest pride and deepest joy. She is lovingly survived by her father Felipe Chavez, sons Abel Maez, Jon Maez, D'Andre Alvarez, and Jordan Lopez, daughter Kanisha Alvarez, granddaughter Laurissa Maez, sisters Esperanza Leyba, Angel Leyba, and Eva Chavez, and brothers Antonio Leyba, Glen Chavez, and Fabian Chavez. Their lives are forever enriched by Antonia’s love and the beautiful example she set.
Antonia is now reunited with her beloved mother Virgina Leyba, her grandparents Vicente and Benerita Leyba, her brothers Richard and Manny Chavez, and her daughter Felicia Maez, whose memories live on in the hearts of those who remain.
Those who knew Antonia know that her legacy is not only in the accomplishments and traditions she passed on, but also in the happiness, laughter, and kindness she shared every single day. She was humble, spiritual, loving, generous, and positively one of a kind. Antonia was always ready with a helping hand, quick to be there for anyone in need. In her presence, everyone felt seen, heard, and valued.
As we grieve her absence, we celebrate the immense gift it was to have known and loved her. Antonia Alvarez will live on in every shared story, every hearty laugh, and every gathering around the table. Her family and friends will keep her memory alive, holding close the countless moments that defined a truly remarkable life.
Funeral and memorial service details will be shared as soon as they are available. For now, we remember Antonia with love and gratitude—for her friendship, for her spirit, and for the singular light she brought into our lives.
