Antoinette Marie “Toni” Frank, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and esteemed nurse, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her on July 14, 2026, in Espanola, New Mexico. Toni was born on August 1, 1954, in Libertyville, Illinois—a birth that began a life dedicated to service, generosity, and the wellbeing of others.

Raised in Chicago during the transformative 1960s, Toni’s early years were shaped by the vibrant energy and enduring connections of family. As a teenager, she ventured to New Mexico to support her cousin with childcare—a move that introduced her to the modest charm of small-town life and set the foundation for her lifelong commitment to caring for others. This transition was both welcome and formative, marking the beginning of Toni’s enduring love for her adopted home in New Mexico.

Toni’s compassionate nature found professional expression in nursing, a field in which she distinguished herself throughout her career. She earned her credentials as a Registered Nurse and became a familiar and reassuring presence for countless individuals. Her early experiences included serving as a home care provider for a woman in Chimayo; it was through this opportunity, where she exchanged services for a place to live with her children, that her vocational passion for nursing truly blossomed. Over the years, Toni’s career included extensive work as a Traveling Nurse, serving diverse communities, as well as a lengthy tenure as the respected school nurse for the Santa Fe Indian School.

Those who knew Toni described her as exceptionally kind-hearted, hardworking, and selflessly generous. It was not uncommon for her to offer up a favorite scarf or pair of earrings at a compliment or to find some small way to brighten another’s day. She was guided by an instinctive desire to help, always willing to give to those in need. Her life was defined by an openness and warmth that left lasting impressions on friends, patients, and strangers alike.

Toni’s generosity is remembered fondly through the stories shared by her loved ones. Her daughter recalls a particular trip to Mexico: after observing a man struggling to carry his belongings along the roadside, Toni spontaneously gifted him her truck, returning to the United States with nothing but her goodwill and a ride from kind strangers. Such moments were emblematic of her enduring spirit and immense capacity for empathy.

Celebrating life’s joys, Toni cherished music and the simple pleasures of dancing. She was also known for her passion for healthy living and her skill in the kitchen, delighting in preparing meals that were both nutritious and delicious, always innovating to find wholesome alternatives for herself and her family. Her resilience was matched by her determination—having overcome personal struggles in her past, she faced life’s challenges with courage and never looked back.

Toni made her home in several places but found especial meaning in New Mexico. A landmark in her journey was her birthday celebration in Las Vegas, New Mexico, where she met the father of her children and began building her family. Spirituality also played an important role throughout her life; her long association with the Native American Church (NAC) brought her both comfort and a sense of community.

Above all, Toni valued and cherished her family. She is survived by her devoted son, Ramon Frank-Quintana, and loving daughter, Prairie Rose Quintana. Toni’s legacy is further carried on by her grandchildren: Madeline, Tristan, Dylan, Grace, Antonio, Fiona, Angelica, and Harvey Quintana. Her sisters—Rosemary, Betty, and Mary—also survive her, continuing to share the bonds that defined their lives together.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Frank; her parents, Jean and Leroy Frank; and her grandson, Noel Madrid. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she valued the connections that shaped her family’s collective story.

One of the most meaningful aspects of her final years was the reconnection and strengthening of the bond with her daughter, Prairie Rose. This reunion brought great joy to both as they carved new memories together.

In honor of Toni's remarkable life, a Viewing and Prayer service will be held on the evening of Saturday July 18, 2026, at 9:00pm. This will take place on the family property located at 26 Deer Tank Road, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87508. Toni will then be laid to rest on her family property on Sunday July 19, 2026, at 9:30am. All are welcome to attend.

Toni Frank’s impact as a nurse, mother, friend, and community member will long be celebrated by those fortunate enough to have known her. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and in the enduring love of her family.
