Annette Martinez

September 22, 1963 — July 30, 2025

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Annette Martinez, who departed this world on the 30th of July, 2025, at the age of sixty-one. Born on September 22, 1963, Annette brought joy and vitality into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Known for her radiant smile and beautiful long braids, she captivated not only her immediate family but also the numerous caregivers and friends she encountered throughout her life.

Annette’s spirit was infectious; she was a remarkable soul who embraced life with a playful heart and a joyous laughter that could resonate through any room. Those who had the pleasure of witnessing her playful disposition often found her engaged in delightful antics, particularly during her cherished moments with the dogs she loved so dearly. Their leads became her source of inspiration in the game of play, establishing a bond that transcended words. In a group home setting, she formed a special friendship with Pam, a resident with whom she shared countless precious moments, allowing her warmth and affection to flourish.

Not one to shy away from embracing her identity, Annette took great pride in dressing like a queen, often adorned in beautiful dresses alongside her caregiver. Her vibrant personality was matched only by her loving relationships with her nieces, with whom she would playfully snatch their hair, leaving them both amused and captivated by her spirited nature. Annette’s joy for life also found expression in her fondness for playing with empty cans, showcasing her unique tastes and interests that set her apart.

As a proud member of a family of eight siblings, including four brothers and four sisters, Annette's legacy lives on through her beloved brothers Raymundo (and his wife Julia), Patsy, and Judy (with her husband Johnny), who remain to honor her memory. Her parents, Crisoforo and Leonardita Martinez, along with her brothers Elmer, Macario, Freddy, and sisters Esther and Eva, predeceased her, leaving a void that is a testament to a family surrounded by love.

In remembrance of Annette’s profound personality and rich life, the community is invited to gather for a heartfelt Rosary service, singing songs of love and reminiscence at San Antonia de Padua in Peñasco, NM on August 14, 2025, commencing at 10:00 AM. This will be followed by a solemn Mass at 11:00 AM, allowing family and friends to come together in honoring a life that was adorned with unique quirks and shared moments of laughter.

Even in her permanent absence, Annette’s laughter continues to reverberate within the hearts of those who cherished her. She shall be missed profoundly, yet forever remembered as a beacon of light who faced life with grace and an undeniable zest. May she rest in eternal peace, her spirit as vibrant and playful in the afterlife as it was here among us.
