Alonzo Martinez Sr.

Alonzo Martinez Sr., age 86, passed away peacefully in his home on August 10, 2025., surrounded by his family. Born in Taos (Black Lake), NM on June 5, 1939, to Drucilla and Luis Martinez. He was raised in several locations in New Mexico but ultimately made his home in Taos, NM. Alonzo met Rufina Gutierrez whom he married and had three sons; Alonzo Roque, David Lee and Vernon Anthony Martinez, whom they raised in Ranchitos. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Drucilla and Luis Martinez, all of his sixteen siblings, sons, Alonzo Roque and David Lee Martinez. 

He is survived by his son Vernon Anthony Martinez, eight grandchildren; Angelica Reza (Robert), Dominica DeFrancesco (Marc), Veronica Saab (Brian), Elijah Martinez, Isaiah Martinez, Elisha Martinez Joshua Martinez (Vanessa) and Daniel Martinez, as well as seventeen great-grandchildren; Jonah Martinez, Erika Reza, Azariah and Amaya Reza, Treston and Colten DeFrancesco, Kaelei and Kylah Shannon, Keido and Oliver Saab, Elianna Martinez, Bella, Gabriella, Jeremy and Angel, Acevedo-Romero, Nehemiah Martinez and new baby Saab, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
