Albert G. Gurule, 83, of Santa Fe, NM, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025.
Albert was born in Santa Fe, NM, on April 6, 1942, to Tito and Pita Gurule. He joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his county in Vietnam from 1963-1967. After he was honorably discharged, he returned home to marry the love of his life, Margaret (Tessie). They would have celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary on June 24th. In 1996, Albert retired from the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
After he retired, he spent years caring for his grandchildren and spending time with his family. Albert had great appreciation for the outdoors and in his younger years, enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was known to have a great sense of humor and had a great smile.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Gurule, his daughters; Jeannette Gurule (Elmer), Camille Castillo, grandchildren; Daniel Gonzales (Alicia), Veronica Bernal (German), Gabriela Castillo, Nicholas Castillo; great-grandsons, Dante Bernal and Odin Bernal; sisters, Marie Garcia and Patricia Gurule; brothers, Ben Gurule and Art Gurule; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Albert is preceded in death by his father, Tito Gurule; mother, Pita Gurule; brothers, Phillip and Leo Gurule; brother-in-law, Carlos Garcia; nephew, Mark Gurule, and niece, Shana Gurule.
To honor the life of Albert G. Gurule, a viewing will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, 5-7pm at Rivera Funeral Home in Santa Fe.
Services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at The Shine of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 100 S. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM 87501. The Rosary will be recited at 10am, with Mass at 11am, and the burial ceremony at Santa Fe National Cemetery to follow.
Serving as pallbearers: Daniel Gonzales, Veronica Bernal, Gabriela Castillo, Nicholas Castillo, Elmer Chavez, and German Bernal.
